Collins Quarters is an international law firm with full-service legal practices in Australia, India, and Malaysia. We have Australian lawyers based in Melbourne, Indian lawyers based in Chennai, and Malaysian counsel covering Kuala Lumpur and the broader ASEAN region. Each practice handles domestic legal matters in its own jurisdiction, and we coordinate seamlessly when work crosses borders.
Our India practice provides full-service domestic legal support: corporate and commercial law, contracts, M&A, technology and IP, employment, real estate, regulatory and compliance, and dispute resolution. Our Indian lawyers are based in Chennai (Villa 246, SNP Signature Villas, Nedugundram, New Perungalathur) and serve clients across Indian jurisdictions. We also run a dedicated India-Australia cross-border desk for outbound and inbound matters.
Our Australia practice handles domestic corporate and commercial work, mergers and acquisitions, property and conveyancing, employment, dispute resolution, family law, wills and estates, and migration and global mobility. Our Australian lawyers are based at SE 2 4/24-28 Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000 and serve clients nationally.
Our Malaysia practice covers corporate and commercial law, property and development, franchise and distribution, employment, regulatory matters, and dispute resolution. We also coordinate Malaysia-Australia cross-border work, including FIRB-linked investments and ASEAN structuring.
Yes. Because we have legal teams in all three jurisdictions, cross-border matters are handled end-to-end inside the firm. Common workstreams include India-Australia M&A and ECTA-related work, Malaysia-Australia property and FIRB matters, group restructures that span jurisdictions, and global mobility programs that move people between the three markets.
Our India team in Chennai handles the India-side legal work - entity restructuring, board approvals, capital flow, ODI/FEMA compliance - while our Australian lawyers handle ASIC registration, ABN/TFN, FIRB where required, employer sponsorship, contracts, and operational set-up. ECTA structuring and DTAA planning are coordinated across the two desks.
The Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) assesses foreign investment against Australia's national interest. Under the Australia-India ECTA, Indian investments in non-sensitive sectors enjoy a raised screening threshold of approximately AUD 1.3 billion. All residential property purchases by foreign persons require FIRB approval. Our Australia team handles FIRB applications, while our India and Malaysia teams advise on home-jurisdiction approvals and structuring.
We offer fixed fees, capped fees, and hourly rates. For multi-jurisdictional matters, we provide a single coordinated quote covering Australian, Indian, and Malaysian work so you have one point of accountability. Estimates are provided upfront in writing.
One firm, three jurisdictions, one point of accountability. Contact our partners for a confidential discussion about your matter - domestic or cross-border.
